Minimum Academic Qualification
As per NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure) Regulations 2014 and BSAEU (formerly WBUTTEPA) admission guidelines, candidates must fulfil the following minimum academic qualifications to be eligible for the B.Ed. programme:

B.Ed. curriculum requires students to study two Method of Teaching subjects. These must be subjects the candidate has studied at graduation level. The table below shows the eligible subject combinations:
Important: Subject Continuity Rule
Both Method subjects selected for the B.Ed. programme must have been studied as major or pass subjects at the graduation level. Subjects studied only at 10+2 (Class XII) level are NOT acceptable as Method subjects.
Candidates are advised to carefully match their graduation subject combination with the available Method pairs at MIE before applying.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can final-year students apply?
Yes. Candidates appearing in their final year of qualifying examination can apply provisionally. Admission will be confirmed only on production of final mark sheets showing the required minimum percentage.
Is there a minimum age limit?
There is no minimum or maximum age limit prescribed by NCTE or BSAEU for B.Ed. admission.
Are correspondence / distance learning degrees accepted?
Yes, degrees from recognised universities through distance education are accepted, provided the university is recognised by UGC/NAAC and the degree is listed as valid.
Can SC/ST candidates claim relaxation in marks?
Yes. SC/ST candidates of West Bengal are eligible for a 5% relaxation in minimum qualifying marks (i.e., 45% instead of 50%).
Is a B.Ed. entrance test mandatory?
Yes. Candidates must qualify the WBBEE (West Bengal B.Ed. Entrance Examination) conducted by BSAEU. Rank in WBBEE determines merit for centralized counselling.
